I have officially died. Today, about 10 minutes ago, my Hat Attack hat arrived. It's SHORT. It is way too small to go to anyone but DGD. It barely comes to my ears! That is not my assassin's fault. The hat was written row by row, and most hats are written to the measurement. But if you tweak your needles for stitch gauge, you very easily may miss ROW gauge. I think our arms dealer was a little inexperienced with pattern writing, and that tripped her up.

The hat was designed at 15" -- 14" doesn't seem that far off. I'm sure you could block it to be a half-inch longer on both sides, for a total of 1".
Have to agree with you on that matter. Thankfully both I and my assassin (lucky for me and my target) are experienced enough hat knitters not to fall prey to the dreaded TTBS (Teeny Tiny Beanie Syndrome).
So sorry you are upset Bets, but you have to admit it's a pretty hat. The colour is beautiful.
Do you really need that much coverage in your state anyway? Would you have worn it even if it fit perfectly?
So many of us knit hats but wouldn't wear them for anything.
Ev
was so sorry to learn of your death, just yesterday I was reading on Ravelry that you were still alive, just goes to show we never know when the Grim Reaper will strike!
That sucks! It's one thing to die, but quite another when you can't even wear the hat that took you out.
ok...mayor of dorkville checking in...i thought poor hat fit was due to the ginormous heads in my family...not ROW GAUGE....it's all i can do to make sure I've got stitch gauge...who worries about row gauge when you just measure for length...herein obviously lies the problem..
I'm so lost on this post. But I'm very sorry your dead.
RIP my friend.
Huh? Whadya mean you died? You mean like Rose Tyler in that alternate dimension?
That's why I didn't play!
