So what SHOULD I make with this yarn??

Buoyed by the success of the Cropped Cardigan, I started making it in a nubbly thick thin wool/silk blend. I have 300 yards in this particular colorway, and thought it might work well. I was wrong. I think it looks like hell. Too, mmmmmm, stringy? I think so-and plan to frog it unless I get a "No, don't, that's freakin' awesome!!!" out of someone. I'm a little pissy because I've knitted over 150 yards, and I am REALLY not impressed with the look of it. Trouble is, I have a lot of this yarn in smaller quantities-maybe 6oo yards in a few colors. Any good ideas? If I stopped, and just made a little teeny bolero, would it be better? Would ANYTHING make it better? Besides matches, I mean.

Bets....LLLOOOOOOOOVVVVE the look of that yarn...but just not necessarily in that pattern. looks like it would make awsome scarfy things or hat things....accessories are what it's saying to me..if you're not getting too much of that thick/thin thing going on you might think about a skinny little pullover vest in a K2P6 or 8 rib with a deep U/V neck...cute over super thin/sheer long sleeve Tshirt...just my immediate thoughts...but i sure do love that colorway..

The cropped cardi turned out well. I hope DD likes it. It's a cute look.

Sigh...thick 'n thin. I love it in concept and have bought some on occasion, and it frustrates me too. I'm beginning to think it is only good in scarves. Remember that Cat's Meow stuff? IT worked out really well felted into that little back pack (which my niece loved). I like this colorway too. Maybe a very simple shawl or lap blankie. Felted slippers?

This stuff doesn't felt well. It sheds all the silk. (Trust me, I tried, because I had trouble with the green vest I made before Christmas.)

Echoing Lisa's take, love the colorway, the pattern doesn't do the yarn justice. I thought about Cornelia Tuttle Hamilton's patterns for Silk Garden. Too bad you don't have enough for a Lady Eleanor. Also thought about a stole knit horizontally, maybe with rows of mohair thrown in. Beautiful yarn, I'll think on this some more. BTW, I had a really clever post last night but blogger ate it. Maybe it wasn't that clever. ;-}

For me, I like thick/thin with a slightly tighter gauge than it looks like you are getting. Also, I'm not a fan of t/t in ribbing, seed or garter is better IMHO. So, I'm in favor of scrapping it.
How about a deep V vest in drop garter? I think that would show off the yarn really well and you should be able to do it with the yardage you have. There was a pattern for Point 5 years ago in Knitters if you need one. Which you don't.....

I remember the vest---2001 or so, right? I'm confused-do you think I should do several rows of SS and then a drop garter? I think it needs to be tighter too, but that DG would work!

I have no pattern inspiration but I sure do love the colorway. Like Benne said, it would look awesome with mohair.
