Petey....

So guess what DH has been calling me?

The good news-no aneurysm, no tumor. The bad news....I went to the opthamologist today, and he basically said "WTF??" This seems to be inconsistent with everything he's used to seeing.

I had an MRI done yesterday. They looked at my brain, and didn't find a damned thing. (HAR DEE HAR) So I have to go back and get another done, with and without contrast media, so he can look at the orbit.

Both Chris and Enid suggested I look into a netti pot, in case it really did have something to do with my sinuses. So I googled THIS and just about crapped. Watching the video is like watching a train wreck...you just gotta. And I said "EWWWWW" the whole time it played. But what the heck, how's it gonna hurt? So I found my turkey baster and went to town. Can't get it to go out my other nostril...I'll bet she has a stunt nose...

You poor suffering thang. When I have congestion, I sniff some colloidal silver (holistic) and it works like magic. But I haven't tried it as far gone into sinusitus as you are.

Great news they found your brain & it's working!! ;-}

Wow. Turkey basters and eye patches. Who is your doctor, Granny Clampett? But seriously, it takes practice to master the neti pot. Before I got one, I used a gravy boat. And no, I just couldn't use it again for gravy, after that.

netti pots.....like blowing milk (or jello) out of your nose accidently, only backwards...and ON PURPOSE....use salt water.....contact lens saline if you are really anal about sterility....but seriously it does work for many many people.....it's not gonna hurt anything but your basic sensibilities.....there's a great ebay market for the older netti pots :) An ENT surgeon friend even collects them.......

petey huh...hmmmm...i'm thinking more along the lines of Kahn...as in Wrath of....

I'm with you Bets.....Ewwwww! I don't think my nostrils are connected like hers. She is obviously a chronic cocaine user!! I'd just stick with the alternate toe touches as in the video ...... whattheheck? I suppose you could put down the turkey baster and try one of your teapots from work!

Maybe that fact that you can't get it out your other nostril indicates a problem in the structure of the nose itself? (I can think of SOOO many gross things to say, adn I am sparing you ALL of them...)

I have actually used the saline in a bottle for Braveheart for years. You can kind of wash the stuff back and down your throut this way - not an aesthetically pleasing situation, but if it works...and it does not require stunt nostrils OR macrobiotic food...

So sorry you have not been feeling well. And so sorry about your Dad, too. Take good care of yourself!

Hugs and prayers,

Marta

Bets, that clip was amazing, some things I would never do in front of a camera. I just found another one to add to the list.

Because of my autoimmune disorder, and the accompanying infection problems, I have to do something similiar. A very smart specialist told me to mix my own solution of water, salt and Karo syrup. I call it the Snotty Nose Solution. It really works and helps keep infections down. I'll e you the recipe. The only recipe you can expect from me. ;-}

Sinusitis sounds miserably crippling. Hope you feel better soon. I have a tendency toward sinus infections too and I use a product called Xlear. It has xylitol in it--works wonders.kelly

Yup, the clip shows it all - looks weird but works great. No stunt nostrils or drug abuse required :)

The water doesn't actually enter the sinus. Rather the flow of water creates a slight vacuum and aspirates the stuff out of the sinus cavity.

I use the Xlear and other sprays, my current favorite is saline with a drop of grapefruit seed extract, on planes to moisten dry membranes and ward off airborne ills. But nothing gives that clean feeling like the Neti pot :)

Aw Bets sorry your not doing very well. I was having problems with my eyes a while ago. They burned like the dickens and would not focus. I finally figured out that it was something in the face cream that'd been using. Hope you're better real soon.

I have a friend who raves about those pots, it clears up her sinuses. I just can't quite do that myself though. :-/

As for getting checked out and not finding anything wrong... well, I've been there too, and then my mysterious problem eventually went away. Hope yours just disappears and never comes back...

Betsy I hope you are feeling a bit better. I will never look at a turkey baster the same way again :-}
